Submissions open!!!
Celebrating rats and the people who raise them - with a healthy dose of punk culture thrown in!
Accepting submission in all forms of media to be compiled into a tabloid-sized, 24 page 8.5x11 full-color zine, which will be made available free as a PDF and at cost for a physical copy.
- Submissions must be at least 300 DPI. Lossless image files are preferred but if all you have for some reason is a JPEG, as long as it’s high enough resolution I’ll consider it.
- You must own all rights to anything you submit. No scooping photos off Google and claiming they’re your ratties. Don’t even go there yo.
- Target release date is July 1st, so I’m setting a submission deadline of June 1st. That’s two months to produce submissions and one month for me to edit it together, then host and print them. If you submit later than that, you’ll be under consideration for the next issue. I do intend on making this an ongoing project, if the response is strong!
I’ll be printing and assembling each copy by hand, at my place of work. I’m not 100% sure of the cost yet but I’m assuming shipping will be about 2 dollars and printing about between 2-4 dollars(I’m going to talk to my boss about it and see if I can strike a deal, if not it’ll be 4 bucks.) Contributors will also be given access to the print files so they can print their own copies up and distribute as they please, should they wish.
The zine will most likely be released under a Creative Commons license, however I’ve not decided which one specifically. This will be determined well before print and anyone who submits will be informed and allowed to decide whether they agree with it. Opinions/suggestions absolutely welcome! At the moment I’m leaning towards Attribution-ShareAlike at this time.
I will probably be setting up a website for this project before launch. If I can’t afford a domain and hosting I’ll set up a tumblr for it specifically(which I’ll probably also do anyway.)
